Panini America have provided some more news about 2017 Nobility Soccer:

Soccer Icon Pelé Plays Key Role in Upcoming 2017 Nobility Soccer.
It seems only appropriate that one of the greatest soccer legends of all time, Brazil’s iconic Pelé, plays a pivotal role in Panini America’s upcoming 2017 Nobility Soccer, the company’s first soccer product dedicated almost entirely to the beautiful game’s retired greats. Perhaps none are greater, though, than Pelé, who is the subject of a special 10-card insert set featuring pieces of Pelé’s match-worn Santos jersey. The final five cards in the set will be autographed by the legend.
As you’ll see in the preview gallery that follows, the Pelé cards are simply sublime. And although many of 2017 Nobility Soccer’s calling cards have “Pelé” all over them, there’s so much more to the product for longtime soccer aficionados to cherish. Set to arrive in hobby shops across North America in early October, 2017 Nobility Soccer will deliver, on average, two autographs, four base-set SPs, four inserts and four parallels in every hobby box (20 cards per pack, two packs per box, eight boxes per case).

  1. I still don't think it is right to destroy historic shirts for this. It is not even as though the cards will fall into the hands of genuine Santos / Brazil / Pele fans or collectors. Surely just an autograph should suffice, and what happens to the other 95% of the shirt...

    1. Hi Nik,

I think it is a shame for such an old jersey. Today's modern shirts are easy enough to come by with players wearing two at every game. I don't know whether Panini America bought it at auction or whether Pelé provided the shirt. With the number of games he played he might have a room full of them. This one looks as if it couldn't have been washed after the game! The dirty marks seems to prove it's 'match-worn' rather than 'event-worn' or 'player-worn' as some relic cards state.
